Nitro or Electric Powered Monster RC Trucks are Both Cool!

Monster RC trucks are miniaturized wonders of technology! The advanced suspensions, the electronics, the high powered nitro engines or high powered electric motors, amazing handling and performance, and realistic scale model styling genuinely makes the RC hobby exciting. In fact, photos of some of the radio controlled trucks with nicely finished bodies are so realistic looking that you’d swear it was a picture of the full-sized real thing!

The world of radio controlled trucks has changed a lot over the years—for the better! Although electric powered Monster RC Trucks are known for being quieter and running cleaner, nitro trucks are the more popular model because of the excitement and realism added by the engines. A nitro engine can propel a vehicle to actual speeds in excess of 30 – 40 mph! How is this possible Although electric powered Monster RC Trucks are known for being quieter and running cleaner, nitro trucks are the more popular model because of the excitement and realism added by the engines. A nitro engine can propel a vehicle to actual speeds in excess of 30 – 40 mph! How is this possible?

Nitro vehicles have a fuel system similar to full sized vehicles with a fuel tank, fuel lines, and a carburetor. In addition, they also have an exhaust system that consists of a header and a tuned pipe. This tuned pipe helps the engines to perform better. The tuned pipes take advantage of exhaust pulses and wave dynamics that are “tuned” in the pipe to help scavenge out exhaust gases and increase power within certain RPM ranges. The performance can be tuned and adjusted with different tuned pipes that have different geometry. Much like a 2 stroke engine with tuned pipe found on motocross motorcycles, changing pipes on these trucks can give different power bands and allow the user to fine tune the performance of their machine according to driving conditions.

Keep in mind that nitro fuel is NOT gasoline and won’t work in your nitro radio controlled trucks.  The 3 main components of specialty nitro fuel are NITROMETHANE, METHANOL, and OIL. Nitromethane is derived from propane is like a chemical “supercharger” for an engine.  It helps get more oxygen into the engine to help burn more fuel and produce more power. Methanol is the primary fuel component of nitro fuels. The methanol has a natural inter-cooling effect that helps to cool both the intake air/fuel mixture that means cooler, denser (more oxygen) and more power potential. Nitro fuel blends utilize the strengths of two types of oil— castor and synthetic oils.

No matter which you choose—a nitro or an electric powered remote control monster truck is built for performance, speed & power! Today’s BIG wheels, BIG tires & rugged designs really survive the abuse!
